Working for Miracles
It's here! Midwest Environmental Advocates's 2006 Annual Report is available online. Inspired by Isabel Manalo's painting "Wishes" and Susan Elbe's poem "Miracles Enough" our report provides a broad look at all of MEA's many endeavors in fiscal year 2006. We worked to support and strengthen local leaders to advocate within their own communities, helped build ties between native and non native conservationists around our shared love and respect for clean water, advocated for strong protections for both groundwater and the Great Lakes and helped provide citizens and environmental groups they legal muscle they need to protect the environment. To learn about all of this and more download the 2006 Annual Report.
Recognizing a Rising Star
MEA is proud to congratulate our Executive Director, Melissa Scanlan, on being recognized as a SuperLawyers' Rising Star, as announced in Milwaukee Magazine and Madison Magazine. The best up-and- coming attorneys in the state are named to the Rising Stars list.
Spread the Word!
Citizens working to promote sustainable growth in their communities have a new asset. MEA is pleased to provide our online Big-Box Toolkit: A Guide to Sustaining Communities. Featuring chapters on Open Meetings Law, Public Records Law, Land Use Controls and Stormwater the toolkit is designed to guide residents through the legal and regulatory complexities surrounding construction and development and identify areas where you can make a difference. Read it here.
