Manitowoc County farmer offers reward for manure vandals

CLEVELAND, Wis. A Manitowoc County farmer is offering a 15-thousand dollar reward to nab vandals he says spread liquid manure over his property.

Tod Leiteritz says vandals opened a valve of a holding structure and sent thousands of gallons of manure spilling out in early October.

Leiteritz's Maple Leaf Dairy is the fifth-largest dairy farmer in the state with nearly 35-hundred cattle.

Neighbors have blamed his farm for emitting sickening odors and damaging the local watershed.

The neighbors group called Centerville Cares has challenged Leiteritz's permit to operate the farm.

His opponents have blamed him for a fish kill in September and the runoff of liquid manure into a creek in October.
