Midwest Environmental Advocates Hires New Senior Counsel

Milwaukee, WI. Midwest Environmental Advocates, Wisconsin’s first and only non-profit environmental law center, announced the hiring of Dennis Grzezinski, one of Wisconsin’s most respected environmental lawyers.  Mr. Grzezinski will be based in Milwaukee.

“We’re extremely excited to welcome Dennis to MEA’s legal team,” said Executive Director, Kimberlee Wright. “Mr. Grezezinski brings over three decades of legal expirence, as well as deep ties to the Milwaukee area.  He has long been a friend and ally of Midwest Environmental Advocates including service on our Board of Directors” she added.

Mr. Grzezinski joins Midwest Environmental Advocates having practiced law in Milwaukee for the last 35 years, first as Judicial Law Clerk to Judge Myron Gordon at the United States District Court, and then as a civil litigator with the Frisch Dudek law firm for 14 years, where he tried numerous cases to juries and to state and federal courts.  Starting in 1991 he developed his solo practice in the fields of environmental law and civil litigation, primarily representing environmental organizations, citizens groups, municipalities, and individuals throughout Wisconsin.

“I’ve been a supporter of Midwest Environmental Advocates for many years. Their work promoting environmental justice is absolutely critical to the future of Wisconsin and I’m looking forward to joining the team” says Mr. Grzezinski.

He brings to Midwest Environmental Advocates extensive experience with citizen suits under the Clean Water Act, the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, and the Clean Air Act, has litigated numerous cases under NEPA and WEPA, and has advocated at all levels of government for environmental protection.
Mr. Grzezinski served as a Commissioner of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District for 18 years, including serving as its Chair during 1991, 1992, 2003, and 2004.  He is proud of his role in the development and growth of MMSD’s Greenseams Program, an innovative watershed approach to storm water management.
He has served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations over the years, including ACHOICE (now Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee), the ACLU of Wisconsin Milwaukee Chapter, Legal Action of Wisconsin, the Lake Michigan Federation (now the Alliance for the Great Lakes), and Midwest Environmental Advocates, and currently is on the boards of the Blue Heron Wildlife Sanctuary in Saukville, the Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee, and the Wisconsin Community Fund, and is the immediate past President of the Environmental Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
