Jodi Habush Sinykin, Senior Counsel
Jodi Habush Sinykin attended the University of Michigan, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989. Ms. Habush Sinykin went on to Harvard Law School, where she received her law degree in 1992.
Following a federal clerkship with District Court Judge Charles P. Kocoras for the Northern District of Illinois, Jodi worked at the Chicago law firm of Pavalon & Gifford until her return to Milwaukee. For the ensuing eight years, Jodi worked at the Habush Habush & Rottier law firm, where as a partner she worked on a variety of personal injury matters at every stage of the litigation process.
In pursuit of her longstanding interest in environmental law, Jodi has worked for the past seven years with Midwest Environmental Advocates (MEA), the state’s sole public interest environmental law firm, on public policy concerns and legal claims arising in Southeastern Wisconsin. Over the years, Jodi Habush Sinykin has worked with state-wide organizations on a variety of environmental concerns and successfully resolved a number of federal enforcement actions arising in the Milwaukee area under the Clean Water Act.
Jodi served from 2005 to 2007 on the Groundwater Advisory Committee established under 2003 Wisconsin Act 310. In September 2006, she was appointed to the Legislative Council’s Special Committee on the Great Lakes Water Resources Compact, a study committee charged with the development of Compact legislation for the state of Wisconsin and, thereafter, participated in the Governor’s Working Group on the Compact. Jodi is a frequent speaker and panelist addressing water issues and is the author of a number of published law journals.
Ms. Habush Sinykin is the co-author of the policy report, Protecting Wisconsin’s Water, A Conservation Report and Toolkit, published by Michigan State Law Review.She is also the author of a prior publication analyzing the contributions made by Wisconsin’s former Office of the Public Intervenor, At a Loss: The State of Wisconsin After Eight Years Without the Public Intervenor’s Office, published by Marquette Law Review, and the co-author of Realizing the Promise of the Great Lakes Compact: A Policy Guide for State Implementation, published by University of Vermont Law Review.
Jodi enjoys spending time her husband, four children and two dogs.
